Seat of the town hall, the Museum of Art and the archaeological museum, the Archbishops' Palace is discovered according to the different parts that compose it : old palace of Romanesque origin, donjon Gilles Aycelin, new palace of Gothic style, Saint-Martial and Madeleine towers. Dating back to the late 13th and early 14th centuries, the donjon offers from its upper terrace a panoramic view of Narbonne, the coast, the Corbières and the Pyrenees !

Nothing better then a coffee break on one of the terraces of the lively Town Hall, before continuing your journey towards the Robine Canal and its charming promenade des Barques, where you will have opportunity to indulge in an electric boat ride.

In terms of museums, Narbonne is also well-endowed, with its archaeological museum housing a remarkable exhibition of Roman paintings, its Museum of Art and History rich in collections of fine arts and decorative arts, its lapidary museum installed in the old church Our Lady of Lamourguier, and the birthplace of Charles Trenet, today entirely dedicated to the famous Fou Fou singing.

There's Joy, every year at the end of August, with the Trenet festival, which showcases French song, through concerts, shows, bodegas and street arts !

04 68 59 07 07

At the heart of the Fenouillèdes massif, on the border of the departments of Aude and Pyrénées-Orientales, between Cubières-sur-Cinoble and Saint-Paul-de-Fenouillet, extend for two kilometers, the Galamus gorges, a grandiose natural site with vertiginous limestone walls ! Dugged over time by the tumultuous waters of the Agly, this protected territory is admired from the narrow road through wild landscapes of great beauty… Photogenic wish and visible from a scenic lookout, the site of the Hermitage Saint-Antoine de Galamus, clinging to a cliff overlooking the Agly, will delight lovers of shooting !

Citadel of Vertigo
04 30 37 00 77

Dubbed rightly the citadel of vertigo, the impressive Cathar castle of Peyrepertuse, hanging on the heights of the municipality of Duilhac-sous-Peyrepertuse, dominates from its rocky promontory wild and preserved landscapes. Fief of Guillaume de Peyrepertuse at the time of the crusade against the Albigensians and essential element in the defense of the kingdom of France against Aragon, this fortified site today unveils its amazing perched remains. Like a stone sentinel guarding the Corbières massif, this immense medieval fortress, classified as a Historic Monument, is made up of three parts : the old castle, the middle enclosure, and the San Jordi castle, at the highest point accessible by the staircase of St. Louis.

From the car park along the road to the Castle, a steep path allows, in about twenty minutes, to climb to the ruins of Peyrepertuse. Once on the site, the site visit invites not only to discover a remarkable testimony of military architecture of the Middle Ages, but also to admire beautiful views of the surrounding green hills…

Every year in August, the medieval festival of Peyrepertuse, which is held for two days in the castle and in the village of Duilhac-sous-Peyrepertuse, trains young and old in the Middle Ages, with its shows, concerts, banquet, market and medieval events.
