We are delighted you will be joining us at Rockhill House.
To ensure your time on the Estate is effortless, we invite you to share your preferences below. This allows us to prepare your room with care and secure your table at The Church, so you can simply relax from the moment you arrive.
Rockhill is ideally situated just 7 minutes from Letterkenny Town, the largest urban centre in Donegal and just 30 minutes from Derry-Londonderry. The easiest way to arrive at Rockhill House is by using the real-time GPS function below (powered by Google Maps and Waze) or by entering our Eircode into your satnav or guiding app - F92 R523.
You can also make use of the hotel signage around Letterkenny.
Should this not be possible and you require directions from your chosen starting point, please contact the team and we will be happy to help.
When you arrive at Rockhill House, follow our mile long avenue (keep an eye out for our residents pheasants and a dramatic first glimpse of the House on your right-hand side) past our stone dogs and The Church Restaurant and up to our beautiful iron gates. There is a small button on the right to notify reception of your arrival.
Letterkenny is extremely well serviced by regular bus routes from across Ireland. Our team will be happy to help you choose the best option for you.
When you arrive at the Bus terminus, exit towards the Port Road roundabout and stay to the right. A taxi rank is located across the road outside the small parade of shops. Simply approach the first taxi in the queue and ask to be brought to Rockhill House Estate - all of the drivers in town know how to reach us.
Unfortunately, Letterkenny is no longer serviced by any rail lines. But part of the history of Rockhill House that you will discover during your stay is the connection of John Vandeleur Stewart with the Letterkenny Railway in the 1800s - the old route still being visible running along the river Swilly across from the main gate to our mile long avenue.
You can arrive at Rockhill House easily from Donegal, Derry and Belfast Airports; and we're not too much further from Ireland West Airport. A little bit further are both Dublin (with daily direct flights to Donegal) and Shannon Airports. The team will happily help you plan your arrival and suggest points to stop if you are enjoying a leisurely trip to us.
We also have a helipad for those who wish to arrange an arrival by private helicopter to Rockhill (and you could have no better introduction to spectacular Donegal than to take a tour from the perspective of our Golden Eagles!)
There are also a number of small airfields in the area should you wish to make a more unusual arrival.
Larne and Belfasts ports are both approximately a 2 hour drive from Rockhill. If you would prefer a slightly longer route, we suggest travelling along the Causeway Coastal Route - a 313 km/195-mile driving route which takes in the breath-taking scenery of the North coast as seen in Star Wars and Game of Thrones.
- City of Derry Airport(51 km, 46 min)
- Donegal Airport(59 km, 58 min)
- Belfast International Airport(130 km, 1:52)
- George Best Belfast City Airport(154 km, 2:04)
- Ireland West Knock Airport(163 km, 2:17)
- Seaport of Killybegs(68 km, 1:03)
- Seaport of Belfast(151 km, 2:00)
- Seaport of Larne(161 km, 2:14)

A unique display of the life and times of St. Colmcille. The Colmcille Heritage Centre is situated on a very scenic lakeside site with walks along the lakeside.
A favourite among the team at Rockhill House, Glebe House was the home for nearly thirty years of the renowned artist Derek Hill and sits beside Lough Gartan. Originally known as Saint Columb's, the 1828 Regency-style house is decorated with William Morris textiles, and collections of Islamic and Japanese art, as well as 300 works by leading twentieth-century artists such as Picasso and Kokoshka. The house and gardens are displayed in an informal manner.
The Beltany Stone Circle is an outlier—and one with an outlier stone—among Ireland's 240+ stone circles (five in Co. Donegal). It is larger than most circles; its 64 stones—the remnants of what was once a circle of more than 80—have a circumference of 137 m (150yd). It sits atop the prominent 170 m (350 ft) Tops Hill, and, most peculiarly, in the center of the circle are the remains of a cairn. Is it possible that this monument is not a late Bronze Age stone circle at all, but is actually the remaining kerbstones from a massive ruined burial cairn, or even a much earlier Neolithic passage tomb.
To add to the distinctiveness of this circle, a rather horrific-looking Iron Age stone head, only 25.5cm (10in) tall (see below right), was found in or near the monument, perhaps indicating that the site had a ritual use for many centuries after its construction.

With 200 acres of grounds and many beaches, Ards hosts some spectacular views. Beatuiful walks in a peaceful spot with historic links to Rockhill House Estate. Follow the path north past the friary the whole way to the end and you'll find the secret "shelly beach".

Tory Island, or simply Tory (officially known by its Irish name Toraigh), is an island 14.5 kilometres off the north-west coast of County Donegal, Ireland, and is the most remote inhabited island of Ireland. The main spoken language on the island is Irish, although English is spoken as well, to communicate with visitors.
The island boasts a strong artistic community. It is also an excellent spot to see populations of the endangered corncrake as well as puffins.
The most northerly point on the island of Ireland.

In the 17th century, a castle stood at the site of the car park at the start of the trail. The castle was built to control the ford which was across the river Finn. The site is on lands formerly part of the Hayes Estate and this area was planted with Silver Fir, European Larch and Lime. In the early 20th century, the Hayes Estate was acquired by the Irish Land Commission and the forested area was subsequently given over to Coillte.
At anytime of the year, this small wood provides several very pleasant hour long rambles. In Drumboe, you can view displays of bluebells in spring, watch the leaf colour change in autumn, enjoy an early morning stroll in summer or the winter sun stream through the bare branches. There are three short trails way marked in the wood; the nature trail, the Multi Access Trail and the Drumboe Loop Trail.
