Arrival from 16 : 00 to 18 : 30.

You can arrive until 23 : 00 but tell me before.

Thank you

From the north :

by the A31 : exit Bulgnéville, (38 minutes) direction Vittel, then Epinal then Darney, passage of the village of Thuillières then the Village of Darney.

Then take the direction of baths baths, 1 km from the exit of Darney, take the second right towards the Hut, the Barn wood (beginning of sign)

Warning ! Take the first right which will take you to Claudon village, you would make a detour of 7 km !

Cross the hamlet of the barn and after a short but steep descent, turn left towards the Hut leaving on your right pond Forge Neuve. First right, enter the small hamlet of the Hut by passing on the small iron bridge (if you have a caravan or large campsite because it is better to take the next right just after the hut).

At the exit of the hamlet turn right, pass the second Ourche bridge pass in front of the school chapel and the giant sequoias, another 200 m and you have arrived.

And indeed, yes it is lost ! And that's why we like to meet it !

From the south :

by the A31, exit Lamarche, pass Lamarche, follow and pass Monthureux on saone, at the exit take on the right direction Claudon.

Arrival at Claudon, go past the church and at the crossroads take the direction of Passavant la rochère (beginning of sign). Just at the entrance of the forest after the small pond (on your right), take the first left, it remains 5 km and you turn left at each tarmac intersection.

And indeed, yes it is lost ! And that's why we like to meet it !

From the west :

A board does not follow your gps by the shortest way, the gps could lead you in very large forest areas with paths not always very driveable.

Better to enter Passavant la Rochère. Then go to the glass factory of La Rochère.

From the glassworks, on leaving left the car park, take the forest road, pass the Calvary, then the second ordeal, it is always straight for 6 km.

From the east :

In the village of Hennezel, take the direction of Clairey, then Thietry, the Hut. After a long descent, you arrive at the Hut, take the first (little carrosable) or the second left. Pass the hamlet of La Hutte

At the exit of the hamlet turn right, pass the second bridge of the Ourche, pass the school chapel and the giant sequoias, another 200 m and you have arrived.

And indeed, yes it is lost ! And that's why we like to meet it !

The cabins are equipped with wood burning stove. In season a fire is ready on your arrival, you have wood at your disposal to feed the fire. The intensity of the fire is to be adjusted with the "draft" of air.

The draw "open wide" open ashtray must remain constantly open, it is only to "boost" the fire at the start or recovery.

To light the fire, the technique consists of:

de-ash the grill, place a square of fire, a small handful of staggered wood on the fire and 3 small logs.

Open the draft as much as possible, including the ashtray (in case of wet weather, open the door of the hut to create a draft).

Light the square of fire and close the fireplace door.

Once the fire is well installed, load in wood and adjust the draft by remembering to close the ashtray door.

So that everyone can better appreciate his stay a few rules must be respected. You will also find posted at the entrance of the campsite the rules.

Fire and fires

For reasons of safety and respect for everyone, it is strictly forbidden to smoke in the premises.

It is allowed to light bonfires either in the mobile braziers (except near the huts) or in the campfires allocated for this purpose (unless special prohibition)

In case of fire fire extinguishers are available at the entrance of the forest house (left, inside) or in the central outdoor kitchen area.

Lost objects

The property assumes no liability for theft, loss or damage during the client's stay.

The River Saône has its source in the Vosges

The Saône has its source in Vioménil, Vosges, and ends in the Rhone in Lyon after travelling 480 kilometres and crossing Haute-Saône, Côte-d'Or and Saône-et-Loire. In a channel that supplies water to the two basins of a washhouse further down, surrounded by greenery, the source can be found: a very small stream of water that gives birth to one of the longest rivers in France!

A genuine tourist attraction, it provides the basis for an 8-kilometre scenic walk along a marked footpath, amid flower-covered fallow land and meadows. The walk also leads to La Pille, an old glass-makers' hamlet. You can also have a picnic in the grass, in a verdant setting at the very spot where the source begins.

The only spa resort in Champagne-Ardenne!

Famous since Antiquity for the benefits of its thermal water, the pleasant resort of Bourbonne-les-Bains, located in Haute-Marne at the edge of the Vosges and Upper Saône, is the only thermal resort in the Champagne-Ardenne region.

Springing from the ground at a temperature of 66 °C, the water of Bourbonne-les-Bains is rich in oligo-elements and mineral salts, and is famed for its healing properties, especially in the treatment of rheumatism, osteoarthritis and disorders of the respiratory tract. As well as its medical treatments, the resort's spa also offers well-being and fitness treatments.

Bourbonne-les-Bains also offers plenty of green spaces, with the Spa Park and its Gallo-Roman remains; the Castle Park, adorned with flowerbeds and hundred-year-old trees; Montmorency Arboretum, a botanical park made up of around 250 different tree species; and La Bannie Animal Park, inhabited by stags, does, fallow deer, boar, rabbits, peacocks, goats and birds...

When it comes to culture, the municipal museum based in the outbuildings of the old castle has exhibitions of Gallo-Roman archaeological remains (ex-votos, funerary steles, coins...), paintings by local artists from the 19th and 20th centuries, and a collection of naturalised birds from the 19th century.

Mirecourt, the stringed instrument-making capital

Mirecourt, 34 km from Épinal and 23 km from Vittel, is home to the greatest museum of stringed instrument-making. Indeed, Mirecourt is a major centre for this trade and the birthplace of world bow-making : nearly sixty stringed instrument and bow-making companies have helped to build up this reputation over three centuries.

A luthier to the Dukes of Lorraine, trained in Italy, is thought to have taught his art to the townspeople. The instruments were made from conifer wood from the Vosges forests, then from spruce wood from the Tyrol and the Swiss Jura.

In the 1920s, Mirecourt had around 600 luthiers ! With the creation of the National Violin-making School in 1970, which trains apprentice luthiers in three years, Mirecourt recovered from the musical crisis of the 1930s, which had seen luthier numbers fall sharply.

Excellent instruments can still be found there today, first and foremost the bowed stringed instruments used in string quartets, the speciality of the town. Local businesses have also diversified to include other instruments, like guitars, mandolins and traditional instruments.

A major museum devoted to the image-making tradition

Did you know that the image-making tradition of Vosges' capital dates back to the 18th century? Back then, card and coloured paper-makers helped to make it famous all over Europe, by creating original popular images that were then reproduced in the 19th century by the printers Pinot and Pellerin. The town of Épinal thus wanted to pay tribute to this image-making heritage by opening the Cité de l'Image in 2003, bringing together an impressive and ever-expanding collection of around 110,000 works, one of the biggest in the world!

A true heritage treasure, the Cité de l'Image's collection is a reflection of society in bygone days, charting changes in tastes and customs. From Perrault's fairy tales to Napoleon, from the Americas to the '60s, the permanent exhibition room of 400 m² tells the story of the popular image, engravers and image-makers while explaining the function of the image: instructing, selling, promotional, religious and propaganda images, etc. The messages delivered are often clear but sometimes more subtle: to help visitors understand them, there are explanation texts, interactive terminals, video montages and even an audio-guide in 5 languages.

For conservation reasons, the images on display are regularly stored away, so the museum is never exactly the same twice, and you will discover new works every time you visit.

The museum is also designed with children in mind, with its educational games and special workshops, and the gift shop is a true Ali Baba's cave with its catalogues designed to look like history books, and reproductions of images to give as a gift or just treat yourself.

As the Cité de l'Image was built near to the old Pellerin print works, you can buy a combined ticket on both sites allowing you to complete your visit with a tour of the workshops, where you can learn all about printing techniques!

The leafiest town in France, at the heart of the Vosges

The River Moselle runs through Épinal, in the department of Vosges. The city benefits from a strategic position at the heart of Europe, in close proximity to Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Belgium.

Épinal consists of two separate districts on either side of the Moselle: on the right bank is the historical quarter, and on the left bank is the new town.

In the thousand-year-old historical centre, you will find the charming Place des Vosges lined with Renaissance arcade houses, including the Bailiff's house built in 1604, the basilica, the covered market and the Chapter Museum. A Historic Monument, the Basilica of St. Maurice, built between the 11th and 13th centuries, has been a place of pilgrimage for a long time. Its architecture is a blend of several styles: Gothic, Champenois and Burgundian.

Perched on a hill, the remains of the medieval castle are also listed Historic Monuments. Offering a beautiful view of the city, the pleasant castle park spans 26 hectares and is ideal for a walk with the family. Highlights include a medieval garden, terraced orchards, an animal park and a children's play area!

The Chapter Museum (Musée du Chapitre), based in a medieval tower, tells the story of the city. In the Chapitre district, whose name is a reference to the canonesses who lived in Épinal until the Revolution, there are some beautiful canonial houses from the 16th to 18th centuries. Close by is the history and archaeology museum, based in one of the towers in the old ramparts.

Five minutes' walk from the city centre, Épinal harbour has electric boats for hire, to take you up the Moselle. Pleasure craft are welcome here. There is also a cycle path and the Bicycle House (Maison du Vélo).

Lastly, Épinal is also the city of the renowned "images", the famous little popular prints in bright colours, which you can admire at the Museum of the Image.

A spa town listed among the 100 Most Beautiful Detours of France

A spa resort in Haute-Saône in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region, Luxeuil-les-Bains is a gateway town that provides access to the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park. It is located some thirty kilometres from Vesoul.

Covered in deciduous forest, the town boasts some beautiful architectural heritage, in particular the many mansions from the 15th and 16th centuries: the Spanish house, the Bailiff's house, Cardinal Jouffroy's house and its Flamboyant balcony, the oldest suspended stone balcony in France, the house of Francis I traversed by arcades, the octagonal Échevins tower (an archaeological museum also dedicated to the painter Jules Adler), and the Pusel mansion.

Also worth mentioning are its religious edifices spanning various eras: the Romano-Gothic Basilica of St. Peter; the old 13th-century medieval abbey featuring a superb pipe organ from 1617 held up by a statue of Atlas and a pretty cloister; the Church of St. Martin and the monastery.

Luxeuil is also known for its lace (you can visit the Lace Conservatory in a superb setting, the former kitchens of the abbey) and for a local speciality: smoked ham.

Yet Luxeuil's main focus throughout history has been the Thermal Baths, which were already a visitor attraction in the Celtic era and then in Roman times. People enjoyed the hot water that sprang from the ground there in the open air. A beautiful building made of pink Vosges sandstone, the spa built in the 17th century is a listed Historic Monument. The oligo-element-rich waters of Luxeuil are prescribed to treat phlebological, gynaecological and rheumatological disorders. People also go there for fitness breaks, relaxation, backache treatment, pressotherapy, etc.

Fayl-Billot, a major centre for reed-growing and basket-making

The small town of Fayl-Billot, a major centre for reed-growing and basket-making located amid hectares of reed beds in the south of Haute-Marne, contains several sites dedicated to this ancient skill:

The National School of Reed-Growing and Basket-making,

which has trained high-level craftspeople since the early 20th century, invites its visitors to discover its French-style reed garden, exhibition about the work and techniques of reed basket-making, and its collection of old wicker objects;

The House of Basket-making, with an area presenting the reed-growing and basket-making trades, and its exhibition of contemporary wickerwork;

Basket-making workshops, which offer craft demonstrations as well as traditional and more contemporary creations.

In mid-January every year, St. Anthony's Day - a corporate festival for basket-makers - honours the patron saint of the basket-making business. The programme includes a religious service, a ceremony for passing on the baton of St. Anthony, a medal ceremony, a procession by the brotherhood, meals (subject to booking) and more...

The Prefecture of Haute- Saône, this is a listed Heritage Town and Floral Town

The prefecture of Haute-Saône, Vesoul began to develop in Roman times on La Motte hill. It eventually became a major industrial area, as home to the world parts centre of the car manufacturer PSA Peugeot Citroën.

The town was immortalised in 1968 by Jacques Brel with his song "Vesoul". A French language song festival pays tribute to him every year in October.

Vesoul boasts a beautiful medieval historic centre, built with beige and blue-grey stones from the neighbouring quarries.

Exploring it on foot is the best way to immerse yourself in the peaceful atmosphere of a town built to a human scale. The pretty streets of La Motte hill invite you to discover their elegant façades, peaceful back courts and wine cellars.

Around the Church of St. George, built in the 18th century, there are many old houses from the 16th to 18th centuries. Sight to see: the English garden, a listed Remarkable Garden with its rose garden and themed flower beds, on the banks of the river.

On top of the hill is an oratory, the Chapel of Our Lady of La Motte, built on the former site of a castle and offering a magnificent view of the town. Another nice viewpoint: Le Sabot Nature Reserve, created in 1981, where walkers can see many plant species along a 2-kilometre trail.

3 km from the town centre, Lake Vesoul-Vaivre has a surface area of 90 hectares. This is a nice place for a walk (its circumference of 5 kilometres makes it easily accessible to families for a gentle ramble), water sports in summer, and bird-watching with its ornithological reserve.

Known as Little Finland, a Natura 2000 area in the heart of the Saône Vosges

This is one of the treasures of the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park. The Mille Étangs plateau in Franche-Comté, whose name means "A thousand ponds" in French, is the result of a dual phenomenon: the formation of basins after the glaciers vanished 12,000 years ago, and human intervention. Indeed, monks and farmers created these ponds in the 11th century by extracting peat, making them an important resource for the region.

Spread across 220 km², from Lure to Faucogney-et-la-Mer, via Mélisey, Servance, the Col des Croix pass and the Ballon de Servance, the Thousand Ponds (in fact there are 850, measuring at most around ten hectares each) on this plateau in the Saône Vosges nestle among superb landscapes of meadows, moors, lakes and streams, and green forests.

Trekking is the main attraction, on the paths and in the forests of oak, beech, birch and pine, on foot, on horseback or by bike, along with fishing and water sports, of course. Yet the built heritage should not be overlooked: the area is teeming with churches, mills and picturesque monuments.

The plant life is equally remarkable: sundews grow alongside common cottongrass and cranberries. Ferns, broom and heather carpet the prairies.

Outings for all ages are organised by the Saône Vosges House of Nature, so everyone can explore the treasures of this magnificent, unspoilt natural site.

Local events such as markets and traditional festivals are another way to get to know the area, and discover craft and food specialities.

An 18th-century masterpiece and listed Historic Monument

This castle, built from 1720 to 1732 in the centre of the village of Haroué near Nancy, belonged to the Beauvau-Craon family. It was designed for them by the architect of Lunéville Castle, Germain Boffrand.

In its green setting of a French formal park and an English-style garden, the castle has architectural particularities that make it unique: it incorporates the four medieval towers and moats of an old citadel, as well as traces of the old Bassompierre Castle, of which the stables and dovecote still remain.

Great artists helped to enhance its beauty, like Jean Lamour, creator of the beautiful railings on Place Stanislas in Nancy, for the main entrance, and Barthélémy Guidal for the groups of statues.

Inside are superb Gobelins tapestries and exceptional furniture, including a splendid Chinese drawing room, unique in Lorraine and decorated by Jean Pillement.

Unusually, the castle is designed like a calendar: it has 365 windows, 52 fireplaces, 12 towers and 4 bridges!

Haroué Castle hosts prestigious events like the Opéra en Plein Air Festival, as well as some great temporary exhibitions.
