The church of Saint-Denis-d'Oléron was given in 1047 at the Benedictine Abbey of Our Lady of Saintes. Rebuilt in the mid-12th century, it suffered a lot of damage, especially -t he seems during the Wars of Religion. Throughout the 19th century, it was the subject of considerable work: nave restored and enlarged worm in 1853, bell tower built in 1877, facade completed in 1899. The shape and decoration of the lower part of its façade have however, retained many attractions, despite the poor state of its material. We will not fail to notice in particular plant and geometric motifs that decorate the column shafts, and are reminiscent of some embodiments of the Gallo-Roman period still visible today in the Archaeological Museum of Saintes.

The facade of the church is listed as a historical monument.
