Lively streets with restaurants, bars and galleries
Wine tasting in a magical setting with an arrival in the middle of vineyards and olive groves. Conceived with the images of the gardens of the XVIIth century, three terraces unfold in the shelter of the mistral. The old-fashioned vegetable garden, ensuring self-sufficiency in vegetables and fruits, coexists harmoniously with the important collection of perennials, roses and other Mediterranean species.
Less touristy than Lourmarin, Cucuron is worth a visit to visit the old village and cool off at the terrace of the pond bar. A 2 km hike leads to Vaugines through olive groves and vineyards.
Famous for its relaxed pace of life, the city of Aix-en-Provence is also known for the charm of its old town and renowned Mirabeau square. Decorated with beautiful plane trees, the old town is the perfect place for a stroll: pleasant small squares, numerous mansions of the 17th and 18th centuries, charming fountains, pretty shops, lively cafe terraces, flower markets, but also fruits and vegetables markets filled with the colours and scents of Provence.
The old town also offers visitors the Saint-Sauveur cathedral and its cloister of the 12th and 13th centuries, the town hall with its square and its Horloge tower, the so romantic Albertas square, and its museums, such as Old Aix museum, the Natural History museum and Paul Cézanne's studio.
The city, also known for its thermal baths since the Romanesque period, offers hydrotherapy treatment. Aix-en-Provence also offers a wide range of events, such as the International festival of Opera (Baroque music and Mozart operas), the water festival and Dance in Aix, a contemporary dance festival.
Nicknamed the "Venice of the Comtat", L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is a very pleasant little town where you can take restful, romantic walks along the River Sorgue. The beautiful antique shops lining the canals and pretty water wheels along the river give the town real charm.
At Easter, an international antiques fair attracts numerous exhibitors.
Listed as one of the Most Beautiful Villages of France, Roussillon is also the ochre village par excellence. All its well-kept houses are of the ochre colour. The central square is magnificent, decorated with flowers and lined with restaurants. This village also offers a beautiful view of the peaks in the fairies' valley (Val des Fées) and the giant's causeway (Chaussée des Géants). The palette of colours is stunning!
The ochre and applied pigments conservatory (Conservatoire des Ocres et Pigments Appliqués ) explains how pigments are manufactured.
The source of the River Sorgue is located in this village, at the foot of a high cliff. The water gushes out of a mysterious chasm at an exceptional rate.
The banks of the River Sorgue in Fontaine-de-Vaucluse are lovely to walk along.
Perched on its promontory, Gordes is postcard-pretty. This famous Provençal village is listed one of the most beautiful village in France. Its castle, narrow paved streets and pretty shaded square make it a lovely place to wander around.
Perched on the Alpilles mountain range, this beautiful listed village of Les Baux-de-Provence is an essential place to visit. Dominated by the ruins of its citadel, the village possesses charming narrow paved streets lined with restored Renaissance houses. The Saint-Vincent square is the place where the White Penitents chapel and the Saint-Vincent church are, and offers a beautiful view of the area surrounding the village and more especially on the Fontaine valley.
In 2013, when Marseille-Provence was European Capital Culture, it opened the MuCEM, the Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations. Since then, the MuCEM has become one of the world's 50 most visited museums.
Three sites, spread across 44,000 m² opposite the Mediterranean, house the museum's collections and exhibitions:
Anthropology, history, archaeology, art history and contemporary art all come together at the MuCEM, a veritable city of knowledge and interaction, where the public is provided with tools for reflection as well as the permanent and temporary exhibitions: debates and lectures, performing arts, readings, films, documentaries, etc.
An ambitious project with unique architecture, the MuCEM offers the public guided tours, audio-guides, family tours, relaxation areas for fast food or more elaborate meals, and even a cookery school at the Môle Passédat, in Fort Saint-Jean.
Allow half-day for an initial look around the museum… and several more visits to fully explore its cultural treasures!

The 8 km course will take you from Cadenet to Lauris. In a family atmosphere, 1h15 descent will allow you to enjoy the wildlife, flora and landscapes of South Luberon.
The 18 km course, linking Puy Sainte Réparade to Lauris, will be suitable for visitors looking for both a rich environment and sports sensations with its 3 hours of sailing.
