Half an hour from Porto-Vecchio and its beaches, the Ospedale (U Spidali) is the first small mountain village 900 meters above sea level. It owes its name to the old hospital of the region that was there once.
At the exit of the village towards Zonza, a small quay allows to marvel at a breathtaking panorama on the gulf.
To see : A little higher, nestled in the heart of a pine lariccio forest and beeches, the artificial lake of Ospedale, draws an enchanting scenery, homeland of the Mateo Falcone of Prosper Mérimée. This dam supplies drinking water to the entire southern region.
Sumptuous forest of 733 hectares, or pines laricciu mingle with the beech trees, which offers to its walkers a parenthesis nature, true green lung near Porto-Vecchio.
This is obviously a space for many activities for children and adults, sports or family : hiking, tree climbing, canyoning, bungee jumping, mountain biking or quad biking.

From Porto-Vecchio, follow direction Zonza / Levie. Cross the village of Ospedale which offers a superb view of the east coast. Go along the dam and continue for ten minutes, then you will find on your right a large landscaped area marking the starting point of this hike. Only the last meters to reach the foot of the waterfall are delicate.

After the Ospedale, turn on your left towards Cartalavonu. The departure is at the bottom of the hamlet, in front of the shelter Le Refuge. Follow the orange markings to Foce Alta then the cairns to the summit from where you will have a breathtaking 360 ° C view if the weather is mild.
