Saint-Martin-de-Seignanx is a lively little town all year round with its Saturday morning weekly market.
Its associative fabric is rich and varied.
Many activities are offered : exhibitions, concerts, workshops philo, garage sale, meals hunters.
Some summer evenings, it is pleasant to stroll at the nocturnal markets organized by the municipality.
Mid-August celebrations begin with the local market, and a sweet pepper omelet contest, followed by the famous agricultural show (livestock competition, farmers' market, Gascon animations…).
During all the festivities, you will find every year : the pedestrian races, cyclists, the petanque contest, the animations for children, meals and concerts every evening.

Since 1922, an important and fascinating ethnographic collection has been assembled here, telling the story of the Basque Country (Pays Basque) and its culture over the centuries.
The Basque Museum, "Euskal museoa", is arranged over three levels and has twenty or so rooms to visit: on the ground floor, agropastoralism and the auditorium; on the first floor, the maritime and river activities of Bayonne harbour, including whale hunting, crafts and the home; on the second floor, religious celebrations, witchcraft, dances (like the fandango), games and pelota. In total, over 2,000 objects about Basque culture! The ethnography section is now based in the harbour warehouses.
At the confluence of the Nive and Adour rivers, close to the Atlantic Ocean, nestles Bayonne, a picturesque and lively City of Art and History. Famous for its festive atmosphere and summer events, the capital of the French Basque Country also owes its reputation to its particularly remarkable architectural heritage. In the centre of Old Bayonne, stop at St. Mary's Cathedral, built between the 13th and 16th centuries. Its former owner, the famous Basque-Irish scientist and explorer Antoine d'Abbadie, set up an astronomical observatory there with a unique meridian telescope dating from 1880!
Open to visitors, the Abbadia site not only allows the public to explore the restored and furnished rooms of the castle, it also provides a pleasant walk in the beautiful English-style park, which is full of beautiful exotic plants.
Listed as a nature site, Soustons Lake, covering 380 hectares, nestles in a verdant, unspoiled setting. It is a peaceful, quiet place, ideal for those who like relaxing by the water, resting on the beach, bathing, fishing, sailing, rowing or canoe-kayaking.

This particularly harmonious scene can be admired from the picturesque Legend Bridge (Pont de La Légende). A listed Historical Monument, of which an arch and a fortified gate remain, it once played an important role in the defence of the town. Take the time to soak up the atmosphere at this wonderful site, admiring the view of the Gave d'Oloron surrounded by greenery, the Monréal Tower, the bell-tower of the Church of St Andrew and the walls of Sauveterre-de-Béarn.
There are also beautiful views from the heights, and more specifically from the terrace of the church, where you can admire a relaxing, verdant landscape overlooked by the Pyrenees in the distance... Near the viewpoint, the fortified church built in the 12th and 13th centuries is worth visiting for its tympanum and carved capitals. Another landmark in the village, the mighty Monreal tower, is a former keep standing 33 metres tall, built in the 12th century to protect the town.
